The Florida Turnpike System ends in Florida City, a good three hours drive from Key West. If you will be approaching the Keys by car late at night, or if you have an early departure flight out of Miami Airport, you might want to consider spending a night in Florida City. There are several new motels from which to choose, located right on Route 1, less than an hour from Miami Airport. The major flag hotels all have properties close to both Miami and Ft. Lauderdale airports. We recommend searching online for your favorite and then booking directly with the hotel.
