Ryan and Nicole

Ryan DeVillier and Nicole Guidry of Lafayette, Louisiana, were married at sunset on Wednesday, October 19, on Sombrero Beach in the Middle Keys.

Ryan and Nicole's plans had to change. They had planned to have their wedding ceremony at sunset on Thursday, October 20 at the lagoon beach at Hawk's Cay Resort. But Hurricane Wilma was menacing the Keys, and the order was about to be given for all visitors to begin evacuation. Forced to abandon their reservation at Hawk's Cay, Ryan and Nicole moved in with their family, who had rented and were stalling for time in a vacation rental. The ceremony was advanced a day and moved to Sombrero Beach. Unable to find anyone still in town who would decorate their wedding cake, Nicole arranged to finish the decorations herself.

In spite of the radical changes their wedding ceremony required, and a nasty-looking squall line blackening the sky just off shore, the weather held, we were treated to a dramatic sunset, and Ryan and Nicole were able to share a quiet, romantic moment together as they exchanged their vows.

Ryan shared with us that he had been in New Orleans just before Katrina and in Houston just before Rita. Here is was in Marathon just before Wilma. We certainly hope the third time is the charm and that her steering currents will guide Wilma away from the very fragile Florida Keys.

We also wish Ryan and Nicole a lifetime of good luck and a long and very happy life together.
